Pennyburn Credit Union’s AGM 2025

Another fantastic turn out for our AGM 2025!

Well, that’s it been and gone for another year and what a successful year it has been for Pennyburn Credit Union. Our 2025 Annual General Meeting saw a fantastic turnout once again, with members coming together to hear how their Credit Union has performed over the past year and what lies ahead. The strong attendance really says it all – Pennyburn Credit Union continues to be supported, trusted and valued by the community it serves.

One of the most anticipated moments of the evening was, naturally, the announcement of this years member returns. Following the Auditor’s Report and member approval, we were delighted to confirm a 1.25% dividend on members savings, along with a 45% loan interest rebate – the highest rebate EVER in Pennyburn Credit Union’s history.

These returns reflect the balance the Credit Union works hard to maintain each year: rewarding savers, supporting borrowers and ensuring the long-term strength and security of the Credit Union for everyone. Every decision is made with sustainability in mind so Pennyburn can continue to support members not only today but for the next 60+ years to come.

The AGM also highlighted another positive year across the board. Membership continues to grow, with more people choosing Pennyburn for ethical, affordable financial services at a time when face-to-face banking is becoming harder to find. Members also heard about continued investment in digital services, ensuring convenience alongside the personal service Pennyburn Credit Union is renowned for.

We also showcased the wider impact that Pennyburn Credit Union has on our community and it goes beyond financial services. From youth development initiatives and school programmes to community sponsorships, supporting charities and the insurance benefits that provide peace of mind to members and their families.

The meeting also welcomed Martin Fisher, Head of Northern Ireland for the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU), who addressed members on the night. Martin spoke highly of Pennyburn Credit Union’s continued success and he praised the strength of the organisation and the clear commitment to its members and community. He expressed particular pride in hearing that over £2 million has been returned to members this year, highlighting this as a powerful example of what the credit union movement is all about – people supporting people, with profits reinvested back into the community. His words were a strong endorsement of the work being done at Pennyburn and a reminder of the positive impact a well-run, member-owned credit union can have.

Our board would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our members for continuing to trust and support us. We’re proud to be member-owned, community-focused and here for the long run (and nights like our AGM remind us exactly why that matters.)
